Head Teacher
Welcome to Plas Derwen Pupil Referral Unit.
We provide a safe, nurturing learning environment for young people who have found it difficult in mainstream education for all sorts of different reasons. Our aim to understand the young people who attend, and work with them and their families to understand the challenges they face and show them how they can achieve in ways they may not have thought possible.
We have a progressive curriculum which is built around young people to meet their needs, alongside a large number of different therapeutic interventions. We offer young people the opportunity to leave Plas Derwen with a wide range of qualifications which can help them achieve their ambitions and move on to their next steps.
Young people will be taught in small groups of normally less than eight pupils with specialist teacher and teaching assistant support. We pride ourselves on the positive relationships between staff and pupils and understand that this is the most important aspect of our work.
We are proud of Plas Derwen, and what we have put in place for the young people who deserve an education that meets their needs.
